Job summary

Wise Group in Tauranga is seeking a part-time Youth Worker to support taiohi aged 12 to 18. This permanent role involves 32 hours per week across Sunday to Wednesday, 7:00am–3:30pm, with a focus on building life skills, resilience and strong connections with whanau and communities.

You will work alongside taiohi, helping them build confidence, achieve goals and reach their full potential, while honouring their mana and cultural identity.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent or be studying towards a recognised equivalent.
• Have experience in working with young people and an understanding of trauma-informed care.
• Have both de-escalation skills and relationship building skills.
• Hold a current full New Zealand driver’s licence.
• Hold a current New Zealand first aid certificate or be prepared to obtain one.
• Have knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Responsibilities

• Walk alongside taiohi, supporting day-to-day needs and empowering them to build confidence and achieve goals.
• Help taiohi reach their full potential while honouring mana.
• Work 32 hours per week on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:00am to 3:30pm.
