Job summary

Higgins is seeking a permanent Traffic Management Operative to join our Mount Maunganui team. You will work with the STMS and crew to set up and manage temporary traffic management, guide road users and support daily maintenance tasks.

The role requires a current Class 1 driver licence, Level 1 Basic TMO, Construct Safe Tier 1, Site Safe Civil Passport, and practical knowledge of roadwork safety. Training is available for skill gaps.

Qualifications

• Current Class 1 driver licence and Level 1 Basic TMO qualification.
• Construct Safe Tier 1 and a Site Safe Civil Passport.
• Knowledge of safe working practices on roadwork or construction sites.
• TMO or roading experience is useful; further training can be provided.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work well within a crew.
• Reliable, practical and willing to assist with traffic control, maintenance and general site duties.

Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain and remove temporary traffic management equipment.
• Carry out stop/go operations, pilot vehicle driving and truck-based TMO duties.
• Read traffic management plans and confirm the day’s work with the STMS.
• Complete pre-start checks and keep vehicles, tools and equipment in safe condition.
• Complete site documentation and report hazards, issues or equipment concerns.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with your crew, clients and the public.
