Job summary

Higgins is seeking a permanent, full-time STMS to join our Traffic Management team in Rotorua. In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee temporary traffic management activities across live road environments, lead TTM crews, implement approved Traffic Management Plans, and help ensure sites operate safely and compliantly for workers, road users and the public.

Qualifications

• Current STMS Category B Practising qualification.
• NZTA TTM Worker certification and relevant traffic control training.
• Current Class 2 Driver Licence.
• At least 2 years' experience in roading or traffic management environments.
• Strong understanding of safe work practices, TTM requirements and site compliance.
• Clear communication skills and confidence interacting with the public.
• A reliable, calm approach and willingness to step in when needed.
• Construction Safe Tier 1 preferred.
• Availability to participate in an on-call roster.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the setup, adjustment and removal of temporary traffic management sites.
• Lead TTM crews and provide clear site briefings and instructions.
• Review and implement approved Traffic Management Plans.
• Monitor changing traffic conditions, hazards and site risks.
• Complete site records, inspections, audits and corrective actions.
• Work with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and the public to resolve onsite issues.
