Job summary

Higgins is seeking a permanent, full-time Traffic Management Operative to join the Rotorua team. You will work with the STMS and site crew to set up temporary traffic management, guide road users and support routine maintenance tasks.

Key duties include setting up and taking down TM equipment, completing checks, reading plans, and reporting hazards. A Class 1 licence and Level 1 TMO qualification are required, with potential for further training and licensing.

Qualifications

• A current Class 1 driver licence and Level 1 Basic TMO qualification.
• Construct Safe Tier 1 and a Site Safe Civil Passport.
• Knowledge of safe working practices on roadwork or construction sites.
• TMO or roading experience is useful, although further training can be provided.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work well within a crew.
• Reliable, practical and willing to assist with traffic control, maintenance and general site duties.

Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain and remove temporary traffic management equipment.
• Carry out stop/go operations, pilot vehicle driving and truck-based TMO duties.
• Read traffic management plans and confirm the day’s work with the STMS.
• Complete pre-start checks and keep vehicles, tools and equipment in safe condition.
• Complete site documentation and report hazards, issues or equipment concerns.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with your crew, clients and the public.
