Job summary

Hutt City Council is seeking a Traffic Management Coordinator to help keep Lower Hutt’s road network safe and moving. You will provide traffic management advice to Council teams, contractors and external organisations, and review/approve temporary traffic management plans to ensure compliance with NZ guidelines.

You’ll also support emergency readiness, assist with risk assessments, and participate in training exercises to strengthen response capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience reviewing or auditing traffic management plans.
• Risk assessment training or emergency management experience is advantageous.
• Local government experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide traffic management advice and direction to Council teams, contractors and other organisations.
• Review, approve and audit temporary traffic management plans.
• Support compliance with the NZ Guide to Temporary Traffic Management and address non-compliance.
• Assist in preparing the transport network for emergencies and participate in training exercises.
