Job summary

Tradestaff Waikato is seeking Experienced Tractor Operators to work across a variety of clients and sites throughout the Waikato. You could operate tractors in civil construction or roadside work and will be required to assist with labouring and safe operating practices.

Early starts (as early as 5am) and long days (12+ hours) are possible. $30–$32 per hour, weekly pay, PPE supplied, and ongoing support from Tradestaff Waikato.

Qualifications

• Proven tractor operating experience across civil, roadside and other environments.
• Confident working around traffic and active worksites.
• Able to assist with labouring and tasks beyond driving.
• Must have reliable transport to worksites and pass pre-employment drug/alcohol test.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractors across civil, roadside and other sites.
• Tow and operate roadside mowing equipment.
• Work safely around traffic, machinery and crews.
• Complete daily pre-start checks and basic inspections.
• Assist with general labouring when required.
• Load, move and position equipment and materials.
• Follow client and site Health & Safety procedures.
• Move between Tradestaff clients and sites.

Tradestaff Waikato is looking for experienced Tractor Operators to work across a variety of clients, projects and locations throughout the Waikato.

The work will be varied. One assignment could see you operating tractors within a civil construction environment, while another could involve roadside work towing and operating mowing equipment.

This isn't a role for someone who only wants to sit behind the wheel. We need practical, team-focused operators who are happy to roll up their sleeves, help with labouring and do what needs to be done to keep the job moving.

What we’re looking for:

• Proven tractor operating experience
• Confident operating tractors in different environments and conditions
• Experience towing and operating tractor-mounted equipment
• Comfortable working around roads, traffic and active worksites
• Willing to jump off the tractor and help with labouring duties
• Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work
• Team-oriented with a positive, practical attitude
• Reliable and able to turn up ready to work
• Strong Health & Safety awareness
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Reliable transport to get to different worksites
• Appropriate NZ Driver Licence for the work being undertaken

Flexibility is important:Our clients' requirements can change depending on the project and season.

You’ll need to be comfortable with early morning starts, sometimes as early as 5am.

During the warmer and busier months, there may also be opportunities to work long days of 12+ hours, depending on the assignment and client requirements.
