Job summary

McKechnie Aluminium in New Plymouth is seeking a motivated Tool Room Assistant to join the Engineering & Tooling Services team. This hands-on role supports tooling maintenance, inventory control, and general Tool Room operations to ensure production tooling is available and safe.

You will operate workshop tools, record tooling movements, maintain housekeeping, and work as part of a practical, dependable team.

Qualifications

• Hands-on tooling maintenance, inventory control and Tool Room operations.
• Record tooling movements and monitor stock levels.
• Commit to safety, housekeeping and safe tool handling.
• Willingness to learn toolmaking processes and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation, maintenance, repair, inspection, and storage of tooling to ensure production requirements are met.
• Recording tooling movements and inventory information while monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or damaged items.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workplace safety within the Tool Room and surrounding work areas.
• Safely operating workshop equipment, hand tools and power tools.
