Job summary

Moffat in Rolleston, New Zealand, is seeking TIG/MIG welders to fabricate thin-gauge stainless sheet and tubing for commercial ovens, fryers and hobs. You will join the Fabrication Team, reading technical drawings and executing welds, dressings, and finishes to a sanitary standard.

The role involves working two shifts Monday–Friday, with overtime options and on-site welding that includes robotic and laser capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in TIG or MIG welding of stainless steel sheet metal.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding instructions.
• Ability to perform weld dressing, grinding, polishing and bead blasting to achieve sanitary finishes.
• If you are a structural welder, you can perform neat, long, fine welds.

Responsibilities

• Weld stainless-steel sheet metal and tubing as part of fabrication.
• Read and interpret welding drawings and instructions.
• Fit, assemble and weld parts and subassemblies for production equipment.
• Perform finishing steps to achieve crevice-free, sanitary surfaces.

Job description

We are looking for TIG / MIG welders to fabricate thin gauge stainless sheet metal that is a core component that goes into the manufacture of a vast range of gas and electric ovens, fryers and hobs. The hardest part for you will be deciding which hours you want to work:

• First Shift: Monday to Friday 6:45am - 3:15pm with optional T1 1/2 Overtime
• Second Shift: Monday to Friday 5:15pm - 1:15am with optional T1 1/2 Overtime

You will be part of our Fabrication Team, involved in TIG / MIG welding of stainless-steel sheet metal and tubing, fitting, assembling and welding metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production equipment such as commercial ovens, fryers and cooking hobs. Additionally, you will be able to read and interpret technical drawings and welding instructions as well as execute weld dressing, grinding, polishing, and bead blasting to achieve smooth, crevice-free, sanitary finishes.

We are looking for applicants who have relevant sheet metal welding experience in TIG or MIG welding. If you are a structural welder you will need to be able to do neat, tidy, long fine welds.
