Job summary

The Warehouse Group (TWG) is seeking a Technology Team Lead to steer the Digital Platforms team, guiding engineers to design, build and operate high‑performing online experiences across web and mobile channels. You will partner with stakeholders to define roadmaps and deliver scalable, secure solutions using SFCC and modern frontend technologies.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in software development or technology leadership within online retail.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud B2C, SFRA patterns, cartridges, controllers and storefront customization.
  • Front-end engineering with TypeScript, web components, accessibility, performance, security, testing, and CI/CD.
  • Proven experience leading a technical team in a large-scale retail or enterprise environment.
  • Solid understanding of APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • Knowledge of networking, security, compliance standards in retail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to share knowledge and mentor team members.

As the senior technology leader, you will guide a team of developers and engineers, ensuring our websites, mobile applications, and digital platforms are designed, built, and maintained to the highest standards while supporting the organisation's strategic objectives.

Our Digital Platform Team is responsible for the company's online technology ecosystem, delivering seamless customer experiences across web and mobile channels while supporting critical business platforms, including Salesforce and other integrated digital technologies.

You will lead a team of engineers and collaborate closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performing digital solutions along with overseeing the design, development, and deployment of new capabilities, ensuring online customer experiences align with business requirements, technical standards, and industry best practices.

Job Description

As part of the Group Technology Solutions & Engineering team, you will report to the Head of Engineering & Digital Platforms and work closely with a diverse range of business and technology stakeholders. This role combines people leadership, technical oversight, and strategic collaboration, providing an opportunity to influence the direction of our digital platforms and technology landscape while delivering solutions that create real business value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers responsible for delivering and supporting digital platforms and technology solutions.
  • Drive the development, integration, and continuous improvement of critical customer-facing platforms, including our Web, Mobile App, and Salesforce ecosystems.
  • Provide hands‑on technical leadership across production‑grade eCommerce storefronts, including Salesforce Commerce Cloud B2C, SFRA patterns, storefront customisation, and end-to-end customer journeys from browse through to fulfilment and post‑purchase.
  • Partner with business leaders, product teams, architects, and technology stakeholders to define roadmaps, prioritise initiatives, and ensure solutions align with strategic and operational objectives.
  • Champion engineering excellence by promoting best practices across software development, DevOps, automation, security, and service management.
  • Ensure the performance, reliability, scalability, and security of digital platforms through proactive monitoring and continuous optimisation.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI‑enabled solutions, to drive innovation and enhance customer and business outcomes.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who is passionate about finding robust, efficient solutions for complex business problems and can deliver those solutions with the level of maintainability required by a large organization. You should be capable of solving problems independently and possess a solid understanding of the technical environment in a large organization, including networking, security, change control processes, project delivery, and a strong grasp of programming concepts.

You will bring the following to the role:

  • 8+ years of experience in software development or technology leadership, with a focus on online retail technology.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud B2C, including SFRA patterns, cartridges, controllers, templates, storefront customisation, and production support of high‑volume eCommerce platforms.
  • Strong modern front‑end engineering capability, including TypeScript, Google Lit, web components, reusable component design, accessibility, performance, security, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
  • Proven experience managing or leading a technical team in a large‑scale retail or enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of online platforms, Application development and payment processing solutions.
  • Understanding of integration technologies such as APIs, microservices, and event‑driven architectures.
  • Solid grasp of networking, security, and compliance standards in a retail environment.
  • Exceptional problem‑solving skills, with a proactive mindset to tackle operational challenges.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A passion for technology‑driven innovation and process improvement.
  • A willingness to share knowledge and contribute within a team.
