Job description

TECHNOLOGY MANAGER

Allevia Kensington Hospital | Whangārei | Full-time

Allevia Kensington Hospital is seeking a pragmatic, hands‑on Technology Manager to lead technology operations, cyber security coordination, supplier performance and improvement across our growing private surgical hospital.

Reporting to the CEO, this newly established position is the hospital’s principal internal technology leadership role. You will ensure our technology environment is reliable, secure, supportable and able to grow with the organisation, while remaining close to day‑to‑day operations and hands‑on when required.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will own day‑to‑day technology service performance, coordinate technology priorities and improvements, lead supplier relationships and provide clear advice on technology risk, investment and delivery. You will work closely with the CEO, Leadership Team, operational and clinical leaders, Allevia Group Technology and external service providers, and will provide supportive and effective leadership of our part‑time Technology Support Specialist.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading technology operations, support, escalations and incident response.

  • Providing technical leadership across networks, infrastructure, Microsoft 365, devices, phones, printers, and business and clinical applications.

  • Coordinating cyber security improvement, privacy, technology risk, backup, recovery and business continuity controls.

  • Managing technology suppliers, vendors, assets, licences, documentation and lifecycle planning.

  • Improving onboarding, off‑boarding, access management and service practices.

  • Coordinating integrations, changes, upgrades, projects and system improvements.

  • Translating organisational priorities into a practical technology roadmap and clear advice to leaders.

  • Coaching the Technology Support Specialist and supporting technology capability across the workforce.

You will not be expected to deliver every specialist activity personally. You will need the technical credibility and judgement to understand issues, lead responses, assess options and ensure external providers deliver appropriate outcomes.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Demonstrated experience leading or managing technology operations.

  • Sound technical knowledge across networks, infrastructure, Microsoft 365, devices and business applications.

  • Experience managing outsourced technology providers and specialist vendors.

  • Understanding of cyber security, privacy, technology risk and business continuity.

  • Experience leading incidents, changes, upgrades or improvement initiatives.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, coaching and people‑leadership skills.

  • The ability to translate technical information into clear, practical business advice.

  • Commercial awareness, sound judgement and a structured but pragmatic approach.

  • A willingness to remain hands‑on and close to operational activity.

Experience in healthcare, a private surgical hospital or another regulated and service‑dependent environment would be highly regarded. Comparable experience from another sector will also be considered. Relevant qualifications are advantageous; equivalent practical experience will also be valued.

WHY ALLEVIA KENSINGTON HOSPITAL?

This is an opportunity to shape the technology capability of a respected and growing private healthcare organisation. You will have direct access to senior leaders, broad visibility across the hospital and the opportunity to make improvements experienced by clinicians, staff, surgical partners and patients.

The breadth of the role offers influence over technology direction while retaining a strong connection to practical delivery.

Located in Te Tai Tokerau Northland, Whangārei also offers access to coastlines, beaches, harbours, walking tracks and outdoor activities, with road and air connections to Auckland and beyond!

If you are a hands‑on technology leader who enjoys solving problems, coaching others and making a visible organisational difference, we welcome your application.
