Unknown company in Auckland seeks an experienced Technical Lead to anchor a squad of 4-6 engineers. You will own architecture, guide AI-assisted coding, and ensure production-ready software while mentoring junior engineers.

This role covers hands-on development, architectural reviews, and collaboration with the Product Owner. Candidates should have strong cloud knowledge and a track record in regulated industries.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Software architecture capability under delivery pressure.
• Experience orchestrating AI coding agents and assistants (e.g. Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot).
• Security-by-design mindset.
• Mentoring intermediate and junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and technical design of squad deliverables, ensuring coherence and maintainability.
• Define and maintain definition of done; gate all human- and AI-authored work.
• Maintain code quality via review, pairing, and engineering standards.
• Direct AI coding agents across the delivery spectrum; choose mode for each task.
• Design, build and ship production code alongside the squad.
• Lead root-cause analysis of defects and production incidents.
• Mentor and grow intermediate and junior engineers through pairing and delegation.
