Job summary

Momentum Consulting in Auckland seeks a Senior Software Engineer/Tech Lead to own the squad's solution architecture and technical design. You will balance hands-on coding with guiding delivery, setting engineering standards and driving quality in production software.

You’ll lead reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with the Product Owner on feasibility, effort and risk, while leveraging AI coding assistants to boost productivity without compromising quality.

Qualifications

5+ years’ software engineering experience, delivering production systems end-to-end.
Strong software architecture and solution design capability.
Experience operating as a Tech Lead, Lead Engineer or senior technical authority within a dev team.
Hands-on development across modern languages & frameworks; experience with AI-assisted development tools.
Strong cloud experience (AWS or Azure).
Security-by-design mindset and production-grade engineering.

Responsibilities

Own solution architecture and technical design across the squad.
Make decisions on technical approaches, patterns and tooling.
Hands-on design, development and delivery of production software.
Set engineering standards; ensure code quality, testing, security and documentation.
Lead code reviews, technical discussions and complex problem-solving.
Mentor and coach intermediate and junior engineers.
Collaborate with Product Owner on feasibility, effort and risk.
