Job summary

Re-Leased in New Zealand seeks a Technical Lead to guide a squad, shape technical direction, and ensure high-quality delivery. Based in Napier or remote within NZ, you’ll collaborate with the Engineering Manager and Product Manager to plan work and set AI-assisted coding standards.

You’ll mentor engineers, own architecture decisions, and drive DevOps practices with an Azure-focused cloud/SaaS stack. Join a team building a scalable property management platform.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent
• Proven experience leading the technical direction of a team or squad
• Strong grounding in architectural patterns and best practices (SOLID, YAGNI)
• Experience with Cloud/SaaS web environments, preferably Microsoft Azure
• Experience planning and implementing CI/CD pipelines for automated builds/deployments
• Security-first mindset applied to own work and reviews
• Hands-on leadership coaching for AI-assisted development and shared learning
• Strong leadership and communication with non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Architect services and systems using design patterns for iterative development and scalability
• Lead team-level implementation planning with AI to clarify scope and patterns
• Collaborate with Engineering Manager and Product Manager for accurate planning and delivery
• Identify blockers and costs early and own decisions within the squad
• Write, generate and maintain high-quality code across distributed systems
• Lead code review practices and set AI-assisted coding standards
• Drive monitoring/observability and use data to guide stability improvements
• Assist diagnosing production issues and implement contingency plans
• Mentor engineers through review, pairing and knowledge sharing
• Represent the squad in technical leadership conversations across teams
