Job summary

Re-Leased is seeking a Technical Lead to helm day-to-day technical leadership for a Napier-based or NZ-wide remote squad. You will design, develop, and deploy high-quality software while aligning with Engineering Manager and Product Manager to plan work and set clear technical direction.

You’ll own architecture, drive AI-assisted development, and ensure delivery is efficient, safe, and scalable across our cloud-native platform.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience or a relevant tertiary qualification (degree level or higher) or Microsoft Certification
• Proven experience leading the technical direction of a team or squad
• Strong grounding in software engineering practices and architectural patterns (SOLID, YAGNI) with clean, performant code

Responsibilities

• Architect services and systems with scalable design patterns
• Lead squad planning and AI-driven decision making
• Own blockers and delivery ownership within the squad
• Write and maintain high-quality code across distributed systems
• Drive AI-assisted code review standards and patterns
• Drive monitoring and observability improvements
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues with contingency planning
• Mentor engineers and build team depth and redundancy
• Represent squad in technical leadership conversations with other leads
