Job summary

Jora New Zealand, a fast-growing software company, is seeking a Tech Lead in Tauranga to own technical architecture within a product squad while remaining hands-on with development.

You will guide system design, reliability, security and technical decision-making, mentor engineers and collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering leadership, while engaging with customers to translate problems into scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, building and supporting large-scale systems.
• Strong C# .NET Framework/.NET Core and REST API expertise.
• Solid Azure PaaS and Azure Web App experience.
• GitHub, CI/CD and modern engineering workflow experience.
• Practical experience building AI/LLM-powered products, ideally across areas such as RAG, evaluations or agentic systems, with exposure to Microsoft/Azure AI tooling such as Semantic Kernel, Azure Content Understanding or MS Agent Framework a bonus.
• Experience integrating and deploying AI models or services into production cloud environments.
• Strong architecture and Agile delivery experience.
• Comfortable engaging with customers and non-technical stakeholders, translating problems into clear technical solutions.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor and influence other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own technical architecture within the product squad and shape the technical roadmap.
• Remain hands-on with development while guiding system design, reliability and security.
• Mentor engineers and partner with Product, Design and Engineering leadership.
• Engage with customers and stakeholders to translate real-world problems into technical solutions.

About the Role

As Tech Lead, you’ll be the senior technical voice within a product squad, owning technical architecture and helping shape the technical roadmap while remaining hands‑on with development. You’ll guide system design, reliability, security and technical decision‑making, while mentoring engineers and partnering closely with Product, Design and Engineering leadership. You’ll also engage with customers and stakeholders to understand real‑world problems, translate them into technical solutions and help ensure the team is building the right things in the right way.
