Momentum Consulting in Auckland seeks a Senior Software Engineer/Tech Lead to own the squad's solution architecture and technical design. You will balance hands-on coding with guiding delivery, setting engineering standards and driving quality in production software.
You’ll lead reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with the Product Owner on feasibility, effort and risk, while leveraging AI coding assistants to boost productivity without compromising quality.
Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.
This is a genuine technical leadership role rather than a move away from engineering. You’ll be the senior technical member of a squad, taking ownership of solution design, architecture and engineering quality, while remaining close to the code and rolling your sleeves up when needed.
The role provides technical oversight across a squad of 4-6 engineers, with a strong focus on coaching and growing the capability of others.
You’ll work closely with the Product Owner, helping shape technical approaches, assessing feasibility, effort and risk, and making sure what the team builds is scalable, secure, maintainable and production-ready.
There’s also a strong focus on AI-assisted software development, so we’re looking for someone who is already comfortable using modern AI coding tools and understands how to get the productivity benefits without compromising engineering quality. What you’ll be doing
You'll be someone who can set the technical direction and then help the team deliver it. You can personally design, build and ship production code while maintaining architectural standards and coaching the wider team.
You are an experienced senior engineer who has naturally progressed into a technical leadership role, but still enjoys being hands‑on. You’ll bring:
If you’re a senior engineer who wants genuine ownership of architecture and technical direction without giving up hands‑on development, we’d like to hear from you.
