Job summary

Taipa Area School invites an innovative, enthusiastic certificated teacher to join a collaborative Year 7–8 teaching team on the Taipa coast in Northland. The role covers the English, Health and Physical Education, Languages, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Social Sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori and The Arts curriculums, with potential Year 9–10 responsibilities.

Knowledge of Te Ao Māori and culturally responsive teaching are strong advantages; experience teaching Year 7–8 is preferred,

We seek an innovative and enthusiastic teacher who, ideally, has/can demonstrate exemplary teaching of the New Zealand Curriculum. Knowledge of Te Ao Māori and a commitment to culturally responsive practice will be considered a strong advantage. It will be considered an advantage if you can teach Te Reo Māori, have experience in teaching Year 7 and 8 and please also state other subject strengths.

We have a highly supportive Year 7 and 8 teaching team, with a strong team culture, and a relational approach to teaching in a department of 3 classrooms, alongside 2 dedicated teachers, 1 of whom is the leader of learning for Year 7 and 8. We pride ourselves on our whānau feeling across our kura, with plenty of support available in other subject areas of interest for the successful applicant. Our intermediate team works alongside each other in modern classrooms situated right on our field, taking full advantage of stunning ocean views.
