Job summary

Kaitaia Intermediate invites an enthusiastic, committed teacher to join a Year 7 & 8 Reo Rua classroom, with a strong focus on Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori.

You will work in a collaborative team, support Kapa Haka, and aim to grow the whole child, upholding Ako, Manaakitanga, Whānaungatanga and Moemoeā.

Qualifications

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed, and culturally responsive teacher for a Year 7 & 8 Reo Rua classroom. We are looking for someone passionate about growing the whole child, upholding Tikanga Māori, and making a positive difference for every learner in our school.

Our school is committed to developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of our students through a strong focus on Ako, Manaakitanga, Whānaungatanga, and Moemoeā.

We are looking for a teacher who:

• integrates Tikanga Māori into daily classroom life and actively supports, participates in, and helps lead our school Kapa Haka programme
• has high expectations for all students and is committed to supporting every learner to achieve their potential
• demonstrates a strong commitment to best practice and evidence-informed teaching tailored to Year 7 & 8 emerging adolescents
• builds positive, respectful, and successful relationships with students, whānau, and colleagues
• is a reflective practitioner willing to learn, grow, and continually improve
• is a collaborative team member who readily shares their strengths, contributes to the team, and learns from others
• can adapt teaching strategies and approaches to respond effectively to the diverse needs of learners
• is committed to developing their understanding and use of Te Reo Māori – support will be provided.
