Job summary

The Treasury Te Tai Ōhanga is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Enabling Services team on a permanent basis. You will manage, maintain and develop our platforms (virtual and public cloud) to enable agencies to meet their strategic priorities.

As an experienced Systems Engineer, you will work with Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Veeam and Virtualisation, with PowerShell automation and identity management.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Windows server and Active Directory in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with Azure and Entra ID, Microsoft 365 services.
  • Knowledge of identity and access management, Group Policy and PowerShell automation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain and develop Enabling Services platforms (virtual and public cloud).
  • Contribute to disaster recovery, security and business continuity initiatives.

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Enabling Services team on a permanent basis.

In this role, your primary focus will be to manage, maintain and develop the Enabling Services platforms (virtual and public cloud) to enable our agencies to meet their strategic priorities.

As an experienced Systems Engineer, you will have skills with Microsoft’s products, in particular Active Directory, Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Windows server, Veeam and Virtualisation. You will be comfortable managing server, storage, and virtualisation platforms, with experience in identity and access management, Group Policy, and PowerShell automation. The role also involves elements of network management and contributing to our cloud, security, and modern workplace initiatives.

There are also opportunities to extend into other areas important to Enabling Services, such as disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and security.

To be considered for this role you should have good technical, communication and interpersonal skills, with your experience ideally supported by relevant industry certifications:

  • Experience with Windows server
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 services
  • Experience with Azure and Entra ID
  • Experience with Hyper-V
  • Experience with physical server hardware

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A strong technical aptitude and demonstrated skill in performing technical problem determination and analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A computer science or ICT related university degree or equivalent industry qualifications or experience
  • The ability to meet the criteria required to hold a New Zealand Government security clearance
