Job summary

Milbrook Resort in Arrowtown, NZ is seeking a friendly Health & Fitness team member to deliver high-quality swimming lessons for all ages. The role includes pool and facilities maintenance, bookings, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment.

Ideal candidates hold a recognised Swim Instructor qualification, experience across ages, and strong communication skills. Availability for casual/part-time shifts, including weekends, is required. First Aid and driver's licence are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Recognised Swim Instructor qualification or certification.
• Experience delivering swimming lessons to varied ages and abilities.
• Current First Aid certification is preferred.
• Full NZ Driver's Licence advantageous.
• Able to work rostered shifts including weekends/public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver swimming lessons to adults and children; tailor to ages and abilities.
• Promote water safety and help participants build confidence.
• Provide exceptional guest service and share information about facilities.
• Manage bookings, enquiries, payments and reception tasks.
• Maintain presentation and safety of Health & Fitness spaces and pools.
• Support safe operation through pool checks and emergency procedures.
• Collaborate with Health & Fitness team to deliver great guest experiences.

Overview

As a key member of our Health & Fitness team, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality swimming lessons to guests and members of all ages and abilities. You will help participants build confidence in the water, develop their swimming skills and promote water safety, all while creating an exceptional experience. This role also supports the day-to-day operation of the Health & Fitness Centre, helping maintain a safe, welcoming and professional environment for all guests, members and visitors.

What will your day look like?

• Delivering swimming lessons to adults and children, tailoring instruction to suit different ages, abilities and learning styles
• Promoting water safety and supporting participants to build confidence and improve their swimming skills
• Providing exceptional service to guests, members and visitors while sharing information about Health & Fitness facilities, services and wider resort amenities
• Managing bookings, enquiries, payments and day-to-day reception administration tasks
• Maintaining the presentation, cleanliness and operational readiness of the Health & Fitness Centre, pool facilities and surrounding areas
• Supporting the safe operation of the department through pool supervision, facility checks, health and safety compliance and emergency response procedures
• Working collaboratively with the wider Health & Fitness team to deliver exceptional guest experiences and contribute to the ongoing success of the department

What makes you right for the role?

• You hold a recognised Swim Instructor qualification or certification
• You have previous experience delivering swimming lessons, ideally across a range of ages and abilities
• You are passionate about health, wellbeing and helping others achieve their goals
• You are a confident communicator who enjoys building positive relationships with guests, members and colleagues
• You have excellent organisational and time-management skills and can work independently as well as part of a team
• You take pride in maintaining high standards of presentation, safety and service
• Current First Aid Certificate and Full NZ Driver's Licence would be highly advantageous
• You are available to work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required
