Job summary

HealthCare New Zealand in Wanaka invites you to join our in-home and community healthcare team as a Support Worker. You'll help clients live independently at home, following care plans, and provide practical and emotional support.

Hours are Monday to Sunday 7.30am–6.30pm, with travel between clients. We offer NZQA funded training and a pathway to professional development. A full NZ driver's licence and reliable transport are required.

Qualifications

• Attitude - a desire to help and support others, achieving excellence in all you do.
• Previous healthcare or care-giving experience would be advantageous.
• Healthcare qualifications are advantageous.
• Most positions require a full NZ drivers' licence and your own reliable transport.

Responsibilities

• Meal preparation for clients.
• Community outings and integration with clients.
• Giving medication as prescribed.
• Personal cares (showering, toileting etc).
• Home management and daily tasks as per care plan.

We are currently seeking candidates in Wanaka who are available to work Monday to Sunday between 7.30am to 6.30pm and flexible to travel around.

What does a Support Worker do?

As part of a wider team, you will assist our clients to live as independently as possible, within their homes and community. You will help our clients to achieve their goals and reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support. Responsibilities can be varied and you will follow a care plan, which may include some or all of the below:

• Meal preparation
• Community outings and integration
• Giving medication
• Personal cares (showering, toileting etc)
• Home management
