Job summary

MASH Trust in Waitārere Beach is seeking a calm, patient Support Worker to assist a young woman living independently. You will help build daily living skills, support community participation, and maintain meaningful relationships with warmth and humour.

Two permanent part-time roles are available, 20 hours per fortnight. A full driver's licence and own vehicle are required, with comprehensive training provided to support your growth and the client's wellbeing in a friendly, supportive team.

• Experience in teaching, education, coaching, disability support, or a related field is preferred.
• Ability to build genuine relationships and set boundaries while remaining warm and patient.

Can you support a karaoke-loving, creative, beach-living young woman who values friendship, independence, and living life her way. We're looking for a calm, patient, and positive person to join our team in working alongside a young woman living independently in Waitārere Beach. She has a fantastic sense of humour, loves spending time with friends, and enjoys having a laugh with the people around her. She's independent, strong-willed, and knows exactly what she likes and doesn't like.

Her interests include:

• Singing karaoke with friends
• Creating beaded masterpieces
• Swimming and community activities
• Going to the movies
• Visiting the local shop and getting out and about
• Enjoying life at the beach

No two days are the same, but every day is an opportunity to support someone to live a meaningful life filled with choice, connection, and independence.

What does great support look like?

For this young woman, support works best when it is:

• Focused on encouragement rather than pressure
• Consistent and reliable

She likes knowing who is supporting her and what the plan is for the day or week ahead. Changes can sometimes create anxiety, so having someone who can remain patient, adaptable, and reassuring is important.

The Role: Two Permanent Part-Time Roles | 20 Hours per Fortnight

As a Support Worker, you'll walk alongside someone in their day-to-day life, supporting them to build skills, achieve goals, access their community, maintain relationships, and continue living as independently as possible.

The most important qualification?

You must have a full licence and own vehicle. A good sense of humour, a calm approach and the ability to be a positive, consistent presence in someone's life. The rest, alongside our young lady we can help you learn.
