Job summary

Community Connections Supported Living Trust is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our Hawke’s Bay team. You’ll support individuals with varying needs, promoting independence, community participation, and wellbeing in a flexible, part-time role.

You’ll work 30 hours per week, including every second weekend, in a values-driven environment focused on empowerment and personal growth for disabled people.

Qualifications

  • Legal right to work in New Zealand.
  • Willingness to undergo Oranga Tamariki and Police vetting.
  • Availability to work over weekends.
  • 1 year of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities.
  • Strong and clear communication skills.

The Role

We are currently seeking a passionate and creative individual to join our amazing Supported Independent Living team in the Hawke’s Bay area. Your role is absolutely crucial in brightening the lives of the people we support. You will be supporting a mix of people, each with their own individual needs, goals and personalities. A flexible and varied approach will be beneficial, as some enjoy sports, racing and connecting with their community, while others may need support with practical tasks, such as managing budgets and general household duties.

This is a permanent/part-time position of 30 hours per week. It requires flexibility and includes working one weekend every two weeks.

About You

We are seeking an experienced support worker who is a team player with a strong sense of reliability, resilience, and self-motivation. As a mana-enhancing mentor, you bring kindness, calmness, care, and a cheerful, upbeat energy to everything you do. You should also have really strong and clear communication skills when it comes to working with a range of intellectual disabilities, as many people you support are navigating important transitions in their lives. A positive outlook and the ability to adapt to different situations and interactions with others are really important attributes.
