Job summary

IDEA Services is seeking a dedicated PLC Support Worker to assist adults with intellectual disabilities across diverse facilities in New Zealand. You’ll help with daily routines, health, wellbeing and personal goals while staying connected with whānau and the community.

Role involves supporting individuals with challenging behaviours when needed, maintaining safety and promoting positive behaviours, with a varied roster and guaranteed hours every fortnight.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, people-first approach to care.
• Previous experience in health, disability, community or support services.
• Behavioural support experience is advantageous.
• Flexible and available for varied rosters (morning, evening, weekend, sleepover).
• Strong communication with people supported, whānau and colleagues.
• Physical fitness to assist with tasks.
• Hold a full NZ driver's licence (no supervisor conditions).

Responsibilities

Make a real difference by supporting people with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling lives!

You’ll support people with daily routines, independence, health and wellbeing, interests and goals, while helping them stay connected with their whānau and community. You’ll also play an important role insupporting individuals with behavioural needs, helping them manage overwhelming emotions, promote safety, and encourage positive behaviours.

As a Planned Leave Cover (PLC) Support Worker, you’ll enjoyvariety and the opportunity to build a broad range of skills, working across different facilities to cover staff leave. While your roster and location will vary, you’ll have guaranteed hours each fortnight.

• A compassionate, people-first approach – you genuinely care about the wellbeing, dignity and individuality of the people you support.
• Relevant experience – previous experience in health, disability, community or support services, working with people with diverse needs.
• Behavioural support experience – experience supporting people with challenging behaviours is advantageous, with the ability to remain calm, patient and positive.
• Flexibility and availability – comfortable working a varied roster including morning, evening, weekend and sleepover shifts.
• Strong communication skills – confident communicating clearly and respectfully with the people you support, whānau and colleagues.
• Physical fitness – able to provide hands-on support and assist with physical tasks when required.
• A full NZ drivers licence – with no supervisor conditions.
