Job summary

Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for a 12-month contract in Canterbury to look after a 10-year-old amputee at home. This role emphasizes cognitive and emotional support to promote independence and active participation in community activities.

Shifts are 3–4 evenings per week with extra hours during school holidays; driving is required, as you will transport the child to activities and school pickups, working within a multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children with various physical and emotional needs.
• Ideally fit and active to support a sporty child.
• Ability to support after-school routines 3–4 days a week consistently.

Responsibilities

• Support a 10-year-old amputee child at home with cognitive and emotional support to maintain independence.
• Assist with after-school routines 3–4 days a week.
• Drive the client to community activities and school pickups.
• Work with a wider team including physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

A fantastic 12 month contract opportunity has arisen for the role of a Support Worker in the Canterbury area.

This is an excellent opportunity looking after a child 1:1 in their family home. Our client is an amputee requiring support to live a fulfilled, busy life.

We are searching for an experienced Support Worker who is looking for a new challenge in complex care supporting our client to be as independent as possible.

Client and Role:

• This role is supporting a 10-year-old child in his family home, he is an amputee and has executive functioning difficulties
• Our client requires a small level of personal care and mainly cognitive and emotional support to maintain the clients independence
• Our client loves sports and being active in the community
• This role involves working closely with a wider team including physios and OT’s

Successful Applicant:

• Must hold a full and valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle, as the role involves driving the client into the community and school pickup
• Previous experience supporting children with various physical and emotional needs
• Ideally fit and active to support the client’s sporty nature and an interest in sports would be desirable
• Ability to support with the after school routine, 3 – 4 days a week on a consistent basis
