Job Description

The Supervisor - Electrical Maintenance (Fixed Plant) provides safe, effective and compliant leadership of electrical maintenance activities across the processing plant. The role is accountable for coordinating people, contractors, planned and unplanned work, ensuring electrical systems remain reliable, statutory obligations are met, and maintenance activities support production, asset integrity and business objectives.

The position combines frontline leadership with technical oversight, work management discipline and cross-functional coordination. It is expected to build team capability, manage operational risk and drive continuous improvement in electrical reliability and maintenance performance.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Production/Operational
  • Work closely with Processing Operations to understand production priorities, plant constraints and the operational impact of electrical maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate equipment isolations, shutdown windows, testing and return-to-service activities to minimise disruption while maintaining safe work controls.
  • Provide timely technical support during plant faults and breakdowns and communicate realistic repair timeframes and operating limitations.
  • Confirm electrical equipment is tested, safe and fit for service before handback to Operations, with any restrictions or follow-up requirements clearly communicated.
  • Support safe plant start-ups, shutdowns and operating transitions where electrical oversight or switching is required.
  • Assist Operations to identify early signs of electrical equipment deterioration and promote effective operator care and defect reporting.
  • Balance maintenance and production requirements using risk-based decisions, while stopping or deferring operation where electrical safety or asset integrity is unacceptable.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and contribute maintenance input to plant priorities, outage planning and short-term operating plans.
Maintenance
  • Lead the safe execution of electrical maintenance work, ensuring permits, isolations, switching, testing and return-to-service requirements are fully understood and applied.
  • Coordinate daily electrical maintenance priorities, allocate labour and confirm that job scope, parts, tools, access and resources are ready before work begins.
  • Supervise preventive, predictive and corrective electrical maintenance to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to the required technical standard.
  • Coordinate breakdown response, fault finding and repairs, ensuring plant impacts are understood and temporary repairs are controlled and followed by permanent corrective work.
  • Support shutdown planning and delivery by confirming work scopes, labour, materials, isolations and commissioning requirements, and supervising execution through to safe handback.
  • Provide technical direction, coaching and field support to electricians, technicians and apprentices to improve work quality, capability and maintenance ownership.
  • Manage electrical maintenance contractors by confirming competency, scope and work controls, monitoring safety and quality, and completing appropriate close-out.
  • Review electrical equipment condition and repeat failures, initiate defect elimination and root-cause activities, and support improvements to preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Maintain work management discipline by reviewing backlog and schedule performance and ensuring work orders include accurate labour, materials, failure information and completion history.
  • Ensure electrical drawings, equipment records, test results, protection settings, certificates and maintenance documentation remain current and controlled.
  • Work with Planning, Reliability and Engineering to improve job plans, bills of materials, maintenance tactics, equipment data and lifecycle strategies.
  • Identify and deliver practical maintenance improvements that increase electrical reliability, equipment availability, work quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Undertake planned maintenance, fault finding and other field-based work when required to support operational priorities, ensuring all applicable permits, isolations and authorisations are in place and formally signed on before commencing the task.
Reporting
  • Provide daily updates to the Senior Specialist – Processing Electrical, Maintenance Superintendent and relevant Operations leaders on maintenance priorities, equipment status, breakdowns, risks and expected return-to-service times.
  • Report safety incidents, electrical non-compliance, critical defects and emerging asset risks promptly through the appropriate site processes.
  • Monitor and report electrical maintenance performance, including schedule compliance, overdue work, backlog condition, preventive maintenance completion and repeat failures.
  • Ensure work orders are closed with accurate labour hours, materials, failure codes, completion notes and identified follow-up actions.
  • Prepare or contribute to weekly, monthly and shutdown reports covering maintenance performance, resource requirements, contractor activity, costs and improvement actions.
  • Maintain accurate records for statutory inspections, electrical testing, competency authorisations, certificates and compliance audits.
  • Escalate resource constraints, technical issues, cost pressures and production risks that may affect safe or reliable plant operation.
Qualifications
