Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation in New Zealand’s Otago region seeks an experienced Auto Electrician for our Macraes underground mining department. You will service, diagnose and repair electrical systems on diverse underground earthmoving equipment both underground and in our surface workshop.

The role follows a 7 days on, 7 days off pattern with 12-hour shifts, offering a competitive salary plus bonus structure, and rich employee benefits in a supportive, values-driven workplace.

Qualifications

• Appropriate trade qualification with ideally 5 years practical experience in your field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a heavy machinery or mining environment is preferred.
• Current NZ working rights / NZ Visa is required for this role.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining quality is essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all underground equipment is mechanically and electronically maintained in accordance with company and manufacturer guidelines.
• Work at both surface-level and underground to maintain and service vehicles.
• As directed by the Auto Electrical specialist, you will maintain automation gear (e.g. remote services), complete general electrical repairs, and electrical services as required.
• Complete mechanical requirements as required.
• Ensure that the necessary lock out procedures is in place before commencing work on a piece of equipment.
• Ensure all the necessary pre-start service and repair documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Job Description

Our Macraes underground mining department on the hunt for an experienced Auto Electrician. Whether you’re new to the mining sector, or keen to further your experience, this is afantastic opportunity to get involved with New Zealand’s largest gold mine. This role will involve servicing, diagnosing and undertaking electrical repairs to awide variety of underground earthmoving equipment, both underground and in our above-surface workshop.
7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off, 6 : 30 am/pm to 6 : 30 pm/amroster.
