Job summary

Millennium Hotels and Resorts – Greymouth, South Island is seeking a Breakfast Duty Chef to assist in preparing the breakfast buffet. You will join a busy kitchen, maintaining quality and presentation while working closely with the team.

No formal culinary qualifications are required, but prior breakfast cook experience is preferred. The role offers 30 guaranteed hours per week, with shifts including early mornings and weekends, and a pay rate of NZD 26.91–28.71 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Previous breakfast cook or similar role is preferred.
• Passion for food and desire to provide excellent culinary experiences.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene practices.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast items for the buffet, ensuring quality and presentation standards.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during breakfast service.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following food safety and hygiene standards.
• Adhere to portion control guidelines and minimize food waste.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to the kitchen manager.
• Assist in other kitchen duties as assigned.
