To fulfil our commitment to the Vision 20:20 initiative, which aims to increase the number of Māori and Pacific health professionals through the Māori and Pacific Admission Scheme (MAPAS). TKHM seeks to recruit an inspiring individual to support our Māori and Pacific students through their cultural and educational journey within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (FMHS) as the Student Support Advisor

The kaupapa of this role is:
  • coordinating academic and pastoral support for Māori and Pacific students who are studying in either foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate programmes
  • responsible for the administration, management and coordination of admission, academic, and pastoral support for our students.

This is an excellent opportunity to undertake responsibility and be innovative in a stimulating position that demands critical thinking as well as a practical approach.

The successful candidate will have an well-developed/in-depth understanding of Māori and Pacific culture to provide support, advice and mentorship to students throughout their journey with us and will have strong connections to Māori and/or Pacific communities.

In addition, you will:
  • Understand the challenges Māori and Pacific students encounter while studying at university
  • Be able to work independently as well as within a team
  • Have a high competency in administration and communication skills
  • Have a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships
  • Have an ability to coordinate and manage events
  • Be able to collaborate and work in partnership with key academic staff
  • Have excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Be flexible and able to work evenings and weekends

This position isfulltime,permanentand the salary range is$63,600 - $79,300,dependent on skills and experience.
