Job summary

The University of Auckland invites applications for a Senior Admissions Adviser within the Department of Student Services. This role focuses on the operational delivery of admissions and leading improvements to processes and procedures for admission, including web publication and KPI attainment.

Based primarily at City Campus with flexibility to work across faculties and campuses, the position is full-time (37.5 hours/week) on a fixed-term contract until 2027, with salary NZ$73,400–NZ$77,000 per

Qualifications

  • Experience in reporting and analysis within an admissions or education environment.
  • Experience in continuous improvement and process change implementation.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders at all levels and work across functions.
  • Understanding of policies and regulations related to admissions in NZ context.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead review and approval of admission information for publication on the web.
  • Deliver operational admissions activities and KPIs with an emphasis on improvement.
  • Lead training improvements in Admissions aligned with university objectives.
  • Collaborate with Admissions Team Leaders and across faculties and campuses.

We are currently seeking a Senior Admissions Adviser within the Department of Student Services. This will be a great opportunity for a confident and experienced individual who can not only deliver on the operational aspects of the role, but also contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures for Admission, working alongside Admissions Team Leaders. You will be reviewing and making recommendations on improvements and taking this through to implementation. Leading the review and approval of application and admission-related information for publication on the web. While in the Senior role, you will also lead training improvements related to Admissions that are in line with the University’s strategic objectives and driving towards achieving agreed KPI’s.

This role will be primarily based in the City Campus but will need to be flexible to work across different faculties, across campuses, and will need someone who is agile and forward-thinking.

This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week on a fixed-term contract until the end of 2027. The salary range for this role is $73,400 - $77,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

You will be highly motivated with excellent communications skills, ideally you will have experience working with policies and regulations, as well as managing successful stakeholder relationships at all levels, and working effectively in an area of high-volume workload.

  • Experience in reporting and analysis.
  • Experience in continuous improvement.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Tools.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using PeopleSoft.
  • Significant experience in the use of the National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) databases and the Australian National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR) databases.
  • Subject matter expertise around the New Zealand secondary school qualifications and admission requirements.
  • Subject matter expertise in establishing qualification equivalence, assessing academic attainment and applying those outcomes against set guidelines and criteria.
  • Understanding of global English language proficiency assessments and their relevance in the New Zealand context.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders and cross-functional teams, and supporting change

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary qualification.
