Job summary

Port of Tauranga is seeking a student cadet in Tauranga for a 12-month program within the Receival & Delivery team. The role focuses on learning day-to-day logistics and contributing to customer service, safety and efficiency.

You will undertake projects related to productivity, learning & development, and health & safety while staying in Tauranga for the entire period.

Qualifications

• Have at least one year of full-time study remaining to complete your qualification.
• Be motivated to learn new skills and actively contribute to a team.
• Reside in Tauranga and be available to work in Tauranga for 12 months from approximately Nov 2026 – Nov 2027.
• Supply chain/logistics study is an advantage but not required.

Port of Tauranga is New Zealand’s largest port and international freight gateway. Our Container Terminal based at Sulphur Point offers a 24-hour, seven-day service for cargo handling & logistics services.

The Terminal operates in a competitive environment and has established itself as a service of choice by consistently achieving productivity rates among the highest in the world.

We are seeking an engaged and capable student working towards a Bachelor of Business with a passion for supply chain and logistics to join our team in a cadetship capacity.

Over 12 months, you will learn how to undertake day-to-day logistic functions in our Receival & Delivery department with the aim of achieving the highest possible standards of customer service, safety, and operational efficiency.

You will also have the opportunity to deliver on projects relating to our productivity, learning & development, and health & safety.

To be successful in your application you will:

• Have at least one year of full-time study remaining to complete your qualification
• Be motivated to learn new skills and actively contribute to a team
• Reside in Tauranga and be available to work in Tauranga for 12 months from approximately Nov 2026 – Nov 2027.

Study in the field of Supply Chain Management would be an advantage but is not a requirement for the opportunity if you can demonstrate your desire to pursue a career in logistics, operations or shipping.

The Cadetship will provide the opportunity to work within an operational roster between the hours of 5:45am and 6pm Monday – Saturday.

We can guarantee a minimum of 12 paid hours per week, with the opportunity to pick up additional hours during university breaks and periods of peak workload.

This will be a varied and exciting role which requires an individual who is self-motivated, diligent and organised.
