Job summary

CentrePort in Wellington is seeking a dedicated security officer to protect port operations, assets and people. You will conduct patrols, manage secure area access, respond to alarms and incidents, and support compliance while using security systems.

This full-time role operates on a 24/7 rotating roster. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, strong health and safety focus, and the ability to work outdoors with manual handling.

Qualifications

• Good physical fitness and health/safety commitment; able to work outdoors and perform manual handling.
• Strong communication and customer service skills; professional, reliable and responsible approach.
• Flexibility to work rotating day and night shifts; adapt to changing situations.
• A full, clean Class 1 driver licence and confidence using computers; CCTV experience preferred.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in protecting our operations, assets, and people. You’ll conduct regular patrols, manage secure area access, respond to alarms and incidents, support compliance procedures, operate security systems, and provide excellent customer service to port users. You’ll join the team responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our port facility under the Maritime Security Act and the ISPS Code. This is a full-time position on a 24/7 rotating roster.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• Some previous security experience is desirable with a willingness to continue learning and developing your skills. Extensive experience is not required — we’re looking for someone with the right attitude and potential to grow their security career.
• Good physical fitnessand a strong commitment to health and safety, with the ability to work outdoors and perform manual handling and vehicle-related duties.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with a professional, reliable and responsible approach.
• Flexibility to work rotating day and night shiftsand adapt to changing situations.
• A full, clean Class 1 driver licence, confidence using computers, and ideally some experience with CCTV or security systems.
