Western Bay of Plenty District Council is seeking a calm, politically aware leader to guide our Network Operations and Maintenance function. You will lead the team responsible for ensuring our roading network is safe, reliable, resilient and responsive to community needs, working closely with the Transportation Director and elected members.

You will shape planned and reactive maintenance programmes, oversee contract delivery, and support Civil Defence readiness, while coaching and developing

Qualifications

• Ten years’ experience in road maintenance and/or construction.
• Strong asset management and contract management capability.
• Financial literacy and experience managing budgets.
• Interpersonal skills and a strong customer focus.
• Ability to lead, motivate and support a high-trust team.
• Comfort operating with senior leaders and elected members.
• A tertiary qualification in engineering or a related field.
• NZTA Approved Tender Evaluator (desired).
• Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and its relevance to network management (desired).
