Job summary

New Zealand Government in Auckland is seeking a Head of Network Operations to lead our National Network Operations team from an Auckland base. You will drive the end-to-end operational backbone across road and air networks, ensuring safety, compliance, and reliability while shaping performance improvements across the organisation.

You will coach and develop leaders, manage the budget, and act as a key incident controller for Priority 1 events, collaborating with regional managers and contractors

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in fast-paced operational environments.
• Ability to make sound decisions during disruptions or major incidents.
• Experience managing road and air transport networks budget.
• Ability to coach and develop leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operational performance of our road and air transport networks, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and regulatory assurance.
• Drive improvement in performance and cost by working with Scheduling and Design teams to identify and implement opportunities.
• Lead the day-to-day network operations, be part of the incident management team, and act as back-up incident controller for Priority 1 events.
• Provide strong people leadership by coaching, guiding, and mentoring teams to deliver high performance.
• Hold accountability for the National Road and Air Network Transport budget.
• Lead and support Regional Road Operations Managers, building partnerships with contractors to deliver a high-performing road network.
