Job summary

Statistics New Zealand is seeking a skilled Management Accountant for a fixed-term role in Wellington. You will provide insightful financial analysis, support budgeting and forecasting, and partner with Finance Business Partners across the organisation during a major transformation.

Reporting to the Deputy CFO, you will build strong relationships with portfolio leads, contribute to technical accounting discussions, and help drive financial efficiency and decision-making in a government context.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce or Business.
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Strong attention to detail in financial analysis.
• Experience with costing templates.
• Experience in government or public sector is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Oracle is advantageous.
• Understanding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships and deliver trusted, proactive financial advice across business groups.
• Provide quality management advice, budgeting and forecasting support to finance business partners.
• Analyse cost of delivering products and services and model long-term impacts.
• Identify risks and opportunities through detailed analysis.
• Advise on technical accounting issues including Public Finance Act.
