Job summary

Stats NZ | Tatauranga Aotearoa is seeking a Senior Management Accountant to join the finance team in Wellington for a fixed-term role through October 2027. You will provide insightful financial analysis and support strategic decision-making amid the organisation's transformative programme.

Reporting to the Deputy CFO, you will partner with the Finance Business Partner and Enable Services Group to translate business plans into robust financial forecasts and costings, delivering value across

Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce or Business.
CAANZ Chartered Accountant qualification, or equivalent, preferred.
Proven experience in business-facing senior management accounting roles.
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Strong attention to detail in financial analysis.
Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and engage with various groups.
Exposure to financial modelling and complex financial analysis.
Experience in government or public sector is advantageous.
Knowledge of Oracle is advantageous.
Understanding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a willingness to learn in Te Ao Māori.

Responsibilities

Build relationships with portfolio stakeholders to provide trusted financial advice.
Provide budgeting and forecasting support to managers.
Translate plans into financial plans and deliver high-quality analysis.
Analyze cost of delivering products/services and long-term impacts.
Support costings and analyses for strategic planning and business cases.
Identify risks and opportunities through analysis.
Provide advice on technical accounting issues including Public Finance Act.
