Job summary

Hamilton City Council is seeking a Financial Insights Analyst to join the Finance and Enabling Services group. You will support the delivery of clear, accurate financial and performance reporting, and help prepare reports, dashboards and analysis that explain performance and drive decisions.

Working with Power BI and Excel, you will translate complex data into practical insights, identify trends, and support automation and continuous improvement of reporting processes across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, data analytics or equivalent.
• CA registration or progress toward CA qualification or equivalent.
• Experience in financial analysis, performance reporting and decision support within a large or complex organisation.
• Experience developing reports, dashboards and insights using Power BI and Excel.
• Ability to analyse financial and non-financial information to identify key drivers.
• Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
• Positive and proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop analytical and reporting capability.
• Experience in capital-intensive, infrastructure, local government or similarly complex environment would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing regular financial and performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare and analyse financial and non-financial data.
• Identify trends, variances and the key drivers of organisational performance.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI and Excel.
• Contribute to automation and continuous improvement of reporting processes.
• Combine financial and non-financial information into integrated reporting.
• Collaborate with Finance Business Partners and other teams to respond to reporting queries.
• Explain financial information in a clear, concise and practical way.
• Support consistent communication and presentation of financial information across the organisation.
