Rotorua Lakes Council is seeking a seasoned Business Analyst - Finance to analyze financial processes and optimise ERP/finance systems, enabling robust financial management and informed decision-making across the Council.
Reporting to the Business Solutions Lead, this hybrid role requires collaboration with Finance, IS, business units, and external vendors to deliver effective business change and improve reporting, data integrity, and internal controls.
At Rotorua Lakes Council, we're guided by Tai Kawenga - the values we carry and the principles that carry us forward. Our purpose is to be Customer Focused, Community Driven, and People at the Heart, and we're looking for an experienced Business Analyst - Finance to help us deliver on that commitment.
Reporting to the Business Solutions Lead, this is a specialist hybrid role that combines business analysis expertise, finance knowledge, and systems capability. Sitting at the intersection of finance, business improvement, and technology, you'll work closely with Finance, Information Services, business units, and external vendors to analyse financial processes, optimise systems, and deliver solutions that support sound financial management and informed decision-making across Council.
This is a varied and influential role where you'll lead business analysis activities for finance-related systems and initiatives, translate complex business and financial requirements into practical solutions, and support the configuration, testing, implementation, and continuous improvement of ERP and financial management systems. You'll identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance system functionality, and deliver business change that improves efficiency, reporting capability, data integrity, and internal controls.
We're seeking an experienced professional who brings more than traditional business analysis capability. You'll have a strong understanding of financial processes and accounting principles, coupled with hands-on experience working with ERP or finance systems across system configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing optimisation. Your ability to engage stakeholders, analyse complex problems, and bridge the gap between finance, business operations, and technology will be critical to your success.
A tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce, information systems, business analysis, or a related discipline is required, as is at least five years' relevant experience. Professional accounting qualifications, business analysis certifications, and knowledge of local government financial processes will be advantageous.
At Rotorua Lakes Council, you'll join a collaborative and supportive organisation committed to making a positive difference for our community. We offer meaningful work, opportunities for professional development, a strong focus on wellbeing and inclusion, and the chance to contribute to significant business and technology improvements.
If you're passionate about improving financial processes, enabling better business outcomes, and making an impact in your community, we'd love to hear from you.
