Job summary

Ministry of Justice in Wellington is seeking a Commercial Leasing Manager to oversee the department's leased property portfolio, negotiate renewals and rent reviews, and deliver commercially sound property outcomes.

You will collaborate with landlords, consultants and internal stakeholders to support accommodation planning and portfolio strategies that shape the Ministry's property footprint for years to come.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in commercial leasing and property management.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing complex lease portfolios.
• Sound knowledge of lease documentation, renewals, rent reviews and property legislation.
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and forecasting.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A collaborative approach and ability to work across multiple teams to deliver outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Ministry's leased property portfolio and associated lease obligations.
• Negotiate lease renewals, rent reviews and acquisitions.
• Provide specialist commercial leasing advice to property and business stakeholders.
• Support accommodation planning, test fits and site assessments.
• Identify opportunities for portfolio optimisation, cost savings and workplace improvements.
• Manage lease financial planning, budgets and forecasting.
• Develop strong relationships with landlords, tenants, consultants, iwi and government agencies.
• Partner with the Strategy, Planning & Performance team to support long-term accommodation and portfolio strategies.
• Contribute to future property investment decisions and strategic planning initiatives.
