Job summary

Auckland Council is seeking a Head of Leasing and Portfolio Management to lead a newly created unit overseeing council-owned non-service property assets, including commercial buildings and transport-related land.

You will drive leasing strategy, portfolio performance, and commercial stewardship across community, commercial, transport, infrastructure and development assets, reporting to the GM of Commercial and Property. This is a senior leadership role with broad impact for Aucklanders.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in senior leadership roles in property management.
• Senior leadership in commercial leasing or asset-rich organisations.
• Experience managing large, complex property portfolios.
• Strong relationship-building with elected members, iwi, and communities.
• Proven enterprise-scale planning, analytics, or optimisation programmes.
• Leadership of multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Leasing and Portfolio Management unit across council assets.
• Drive leasing strategy, portfolio performance, and revenue growth.
• Oversee transport and precinct portfolios to maximise value.
• Ensure governance, risk management, and compliance.
• Build trusted partnerships with stakeholders and communities.
