Job summary

Ministry of Justice, New Zealand, Wellington, seeks a Commercial Leasing Manager to oversee its leased property portfolio and ensure leasing arrangements support operations, deliver value for money, and align with long-term property objectives.

You will negotiate renewals, rent reviews and acquisitions, provide specialist leasing advice to stakeholders, and work with landlords, iwi and government partners to drive portfolio optimisation and strategic property initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in commercial leasing and property management.
• Proven negotiation skills for lease renewals, rent reviews and transactions.
• Excellent financial acumen including budgeting and forecasting.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Ministry's leased property portfolio and lease obligations.
• Negotiate lease renewals, rent reviews and acquisitions.
• Provide specialist commercial leasing advice to property and business stakeholders.
• Support accommodation planning, test fits and site assessments.
• Identify opportunities for portfolio optimisation, cost savings and workplace improvements.
• Manage lease financial planning, budgets and forecasting.
• Develop relationships with landlords, tenants, consultants, iwi and government agencies.
• Partner with Strategy, Planning & Performance team on long-term strategies.
• Contribute to future property investment decisions and strategic planning.
