Job summary

The University of Auckland is seeking a property professional to own and optimise its commercial and retail lease portfolio, including leases, licences and occupancy agreements. You will report to the Associate Director - Commercial and drive governance, administration and performance across diverse properties.

You will build strong relationships with landlords, tenants and internal stakeholders, lead lease negotiations, monitor data, prepare reports and identify opportunities to improve value

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing commercial lease portfolios and contract administration.
• Ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical capability with portfolio performance data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management of the University’s commercial and retail lease portfolio, including leases, licences and occupancy agreements.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with landlords, tenants, operators, property managers, consultants and internal stakeholders.
• Manage lease negotiations, renewals, variations and commercial agreements, ensuring favourable outcomes.
• Monitor portfolio performance, maintain lease data, oversee critical lease events and provide commercial reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve commercial value and support long-term strategic planning.
• Ensure compliance with contractual, legislative, policy and insurance requirements.
• Collaborate across Campus Environment, Finance, Risk, Legal and operations to deliver lease governance.
