Salary: NZD $35.00 – $38.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience
Pay range for several other posted roles: NZD $38.50 – $40.00 per hour; NZD $26 (low salary range) – $40 (high salary range); NZD $28–32 per hour; $32–$36 per hour

Key Responsibilities
- Determine product mix, stock levels and service standards
- Formulate and implement purchasing and marketing policies, set prices, promote and advertise goods and services
- Sell goods and services to customers, advise on product use, maintain stock and financial transaction records
- Undertake budgeting for the store
- Control selection, training and supervision of staff
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Oversee day-to-day store operations, including hiring, scheduling, training, performance management, supervising employees, and rostering
- Manage store profitability and control expenses (labour costs, inventory levels, cash handling)
- Maintain adequate stock levels, core product range, and effective merchandising
- Develop and implement pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and profitability
- Plan and execute promotional campaigns, including seasonal and holiday promotions
- Monitor and optimize the product mix to meet customer demands and maximize sales opportunities
- Ensure compliance with Employment and Health & Safety Legislation
- Negotiate supply and pricing agreements with suppliers
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly banking and turnover reports
- Prepare annual budgets and work to achieve store performance goals within budget constraints
- Implement and enforce daily operating procedures to keep the store clean, stocked, organized and well-maintained
- Conduct regular stock takes according to company policy
- Continuously enhance store performance and uphold high standards in customer service
- Organise and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the retail store
- Actively participate in frontline retail sales and customer service
- Serve domestic and international customers, provide product information and recommendations
- Support retail sales for customers from Asian markets
- Welcome and assist tourism groups and other organised customer groups
- Present and explain products and facilitate retail sales
- Assist with product selection, product mix and purchasing recommendations
- Monitor customer demand, purchasing patterns and sales performance
- Identify suitable products and product ranges for different customer groups and markets
- Prepare and coordinate staff rosters
- Train, supervise and support retail sales staff
- Plan and implement seasonal, product and in-store promotional activities
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment
- Maintain product presentation and store standards
- Monitor customer feedback and sales performance
- Identify opportunities to improve sales, product selection and customer service
- Ensure workplace health and safety requirements are followed
Job Requirements
- An AZQF Diploma or higher qualification; OR
- At least three years of relevant experience
- Strong communication and conflict‑resolution abilities
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
- At least two years of relevant work experience; OR relevant qualification at least Diploma level 5
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience
Person Specification
- Must have either Diploma Level 5 or two years of relevant work experience
- Strong numerical data analysis skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Able to multitask and prioritize tasks
- Able to work during weekend and public holiday
- Good proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational and problem‑solving skills
- Good retail selling and customer service skills
Language Skills
Good proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English.
Korean or Japanese language ability is preferred.
Experience communicating with Asian customers is advantageous.
Qualifications & Additional Skills
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Retail Management, Marketing, Business, Economics, Commerce, or a related discipline is advantageous.
- Understanding of customer purchasing behaviour, market trends and retail sales performance is advantageous.
- Experience working with international visitors or in tourism‑focused retail is advantageous.
- Knowledge of New Zealand products is advantageous.
