Job summary

Canva is looking for a senior mobile build and release engineer to own the foundations for iOS and Android. Youll define Bazel rules, manage the monorepo migration and shape the React Native build pipeline that hundreds of engineers rely on daily.

Youll set cross-platform standards, improve release infrastructure and partner across Mobile Workflows, Cross Platform and DevX to deliver reliable tooling on a 12‑month horizon.

Qualifications

• Experience with Bazel, Gradle or Xcode build systems at production scale.
• Track record delivering complex build/infrastructure projects across teams.
• Strong mobile engineering background on iOS and/or Android.
• Experience owning CI/CD or release pipelines used by multiple teams.
• Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term architecture.
• Documentation and practices that become the standard for others.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap for Bazel build rules, RN bundling, and codegen.
• Mature mobile release tooling including OTA and staged rollout.
• Lead staged migration of mobile repos into a monorepo.
• Define quality gates and CI/CD strategy across the build pipeline.
• Evolve React Native build pipeline to serve web and mobile.
• Mentor engineers and align stakeholders across teams.
