Job summary

Canva’s Mobile Platform group is building a hybrid mobile architecture that blends React Native with native iOS/Android capabilities. We’re moving toward a shared set of libraries and primitives to deliver native-feeling experiences across platforms.

As Principal Software Engineer, you will set architectural direction, shepherd production-ready foundations, and guide senior engineers through large-scale migrations, influencing hundreds of frontend engineers.

Qualifications

• Cross-platform architecture at scale in production.
• Migration at scale of a mature mobile product onto new architecture.
• Leadership across senior staff and engineers in multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for Canva’s hybrid mobile platform across React Native, iOS and Android.
• Turn architecture into shipped code with foundations for performance, reliability, and observability.
• Deliver a React Native surface in production within six months.
• Lead Staff and Senior engineers through migration and alignment to the new platform.
• Scale adoption across Canva by partnering with product teams and engineering groups.
