Job summary

Canva’s Mobile Platform group is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to define and own the architecture for a hybrid mobile platform spanning React Native, iOS and Android. You’ll guide the migration of a mature mobile product, ensure performance and observability, and mentor Staff and Senior engineers as Canva scales mobile engineering across teams.

You’ll be close to the code, driving architectural decisions while shaping platform primitives and shared libraries for hundreds of engineers.

Qualifications

• Built or evolved large-scale cross-platform mobile architectures.
• Led migrations of mature products onto new architectures while live.
• Provided technical leadership across multiple teams and senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for Canva’s hybrid mobile platform across RN, iOS and Android.
• Turn architecture into shipped code with performance, reliability and observability foundations.
• Have a React Native surface live in production within six months with stable platform primitives.
• Coach Staff and Senior engineers through migration and establish architectural direction.
• Scale adoption across Canva by partnering with major product teams and establishing reusable patterns.
