Job summary

Canva is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to define and own the native infrastructure for our mobile platforms. You will shape the Bazel build rules, RN bundling and codegen, while driving release tooling and monorepo strategy across iOS and Android.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, reliable builds and deployments, mentor engineers, and elevate engineering standards across Canva’s mobile platform.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on expertise with Bazel, Gradle or Xcode build systems at production scale.
• Experience delivering complex migrations or build infrastructure at scale.
• Strong native engineering background in iOS/Android.
• Experience owning CI/CD or release pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap for Bazel build rules, React Native bundling and codegen.
• Mature Canva's mobile release and deployment tooling including OTA and staged rollout.
• Lead staged migration of mobile repos into Canva's monorepo while maintaining continuity.
• Set quality gating strategy across the build pipeline.
