Job summary

ASB Bank is seeking a Software Specialist – Web (React Developer) to join the Move My Money Squad. You will design, build and evolve digital payments experiences powering money movement across ASB’s web channels.

You’ll work across the full tech stack, mentor engineers, and help deliver secure, scalable banking solutions that improve customer experiences and enable seamless money management.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience building modern customer-facing applications using React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS and SCSS.
• Experience designing and building responsive, accessible web applications and front-end architecture.
• Solid full-stack capability, including REST APIs and .NET-based services.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and maintainable, scalable solutions.
• Experience applying secure software development practices, automated testing and unit testing.
• Familiarity with NPM, Webpack, CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery methodologies.
• Exposure to Azure cloud technologies and modern testing frameworks would be advantageous.

About the Move My Money Squad

The Move My Money Squad sits at the heart of ASB's digital banking experience, helping customers move money simply, securely and confidently. The squad owns and enhances key payments and transfer experiences across ASB's digital channels, ensuring customers can manage their money whenever and wherever they need to.

Working in a highly visible and business-critical area, the squad is responsible for customer payment journeys, money movement capabilities and the integrations that support them. Payments sit at the centre of everyday banking, making this an opportunity to work on products that have a direct and meaningful impact on both customers and the wider organisation.

You'll join a collaborative squad of engineers, designers and product specialists who are passionate about delivering reliable, modern and customer‑focused digital experiences.

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll help design, build and evolve the digital experiences that power payments and money movement across ASB's web channels.

This role combines strong front-end engineering expertise with the opportunity to contribute across the full technology stack. You'll work closely with product, design and engineering colleagues to deliver secure, scalable and accessible solutions while helping lift engineering capability across the squad through mentoring, coaching and technical leadership.

• Designing, building and maintaining customer‑facing applications using React and TypeScript
• Contributing to backend services, APIs and integrations using .NET technologies
• Delivering secure, accessible and responsive digital experiences for customers
• Collaborating with designers and product teams to translate customer needs into technical solutions
• Championing engineering quality through testing, code reviews and best practices
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring and support to other engineers
• Contributing to architecture, design decisions and continuous improvement initiatives
• Supporting the delivery of reliable, scalable and high‑performing digital banking solutions

About You

You're a passionate software engineer who enjoys building great products, solving complex problems and helping others succeed. You're equally comfortable contributing hands‑on technical expertise and providing guidance to engineers around you.

You take pride in delivering quality software, enjoy working collaboratively, and understand how strong engineering practices contribute to outstanding customer experiences.

We're looking for experience across many of the following areas:

• Strong commercial experience building modern customer‑facing applications using React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS and SCSS
• Experience designing and building responsive, accessible and high‑performing web applications, with a strong understanding of modern front‑end architecture and user experience principles
• Solid full‑stack capability, including experience building and consuming REST APIs and working with .NET‑based services and applications
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, object‑oriented and/or functional programming principles, and building maintainable, scalable solutions
• Experience applying secure software development practices, automated testing, unit testing and engineering quality standards throughout the software delivery lifecycle
• Familiarity with modern engineering tooling and practices including NPM, Webpack, CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery methodologies
• Exposure to Azure cloud technologies, end‑to‑end testing frameworks, test‑driven development and modern cloud‑native approaches would be advantageous
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership, mentoring and coaching, while working effectively with engineers, designers, product teams and stakeholders

Nice to have:

• ASP.NET and MVC development experience
• Experience working within large‑scale, customer‑facing digital platforms
• Experience contributing across both front‑end and backend codebases
