ASB Bank is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Testing to join a high-performing squad focused on financial crime and customer protection capabilities. You will shape testing strategy, automate critical workflows, and ensure quality across complex, scalable platforms.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of test engineering experience (manual and automation).
• Proven skills in functional, integration, API, end-to-end and performance testing.
• Solid understanding of Agile principles and testing lifecycle.
• Experience building, maintaining and executing test automation suites.
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentoring and guiding teams on standards and practices.
• Experience defining test strategies, plans and exit reports.
• Testing SaaS/Cloud platforms or large enterprise systems.
• SQL and relational DB testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialised testing expertise across platform teams and stakeholders.
• Maintain high standards of service, quality and availability for financial crime applications.
• Lead incident management, bug identification and regression testing.
• Review requirements and specs for enhancements and testing scope.

The Customer Tribe – Financial Squad works across ASB to drive smart automation through platforms like Pega, enabling simpler experiences for both ASBers and our customers. The tribe brings together specialist, collaborative experts who are passionate about using automation to remove friction and protect what matters most.

As a Senior Software Engineer – Testing, you’ll work hands-on with complex, high-impact systems that support ASB’s financial crime and customer protection capabilities. You’ll be part of a small, high-performing squad, helping maintain high standards of service, quality and availability across critical financial crime applications. You'll provide specialised testing expertise to a range of roles in the platform team and wider stakeholders. You will maintain and enhance our platform through your experience in incident management, bug identification, automation testing and handling Pega applications testing demands at scale. You'll also work across reviewing requirements and specifications for enhancement builds and testing, security patching, vulnerability support, supporting the testing of new environments, analysing, reporting results and supporting our software's scalability.

You'll have great knowledge and experience in automation engineering, can articulatetrade-offs between technologies and influence and challenge. As a Senior, you enjoy sharing your knowledge with others for the benefit of the team’s overall capability. We are looking for someone who has:

• 8+ years of test engineering experience with both Manual and Test Automation experience
• Proven knowledge across functional testing, system integration testing, API testing, end to end testing, automation testing and performance testing.
• Good understanding and experience of working using Agile principles.
• Experience in developing, maintaining and executing test automation.
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentoring/ guiding on standards and best practices.
• Experience on defining test strategies, test plans, exit reports.
• Experience of testing SaaS / Cloud based system or enterprise scale platform
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases testing

In addition, the following would be an advantage:

• Working experience in Cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, GCP
• Experience with open-source test automation library like Selenium, Playwright
• Experience with performance testing tools like LoadRunner, JMeter or similar tools
• Financial/banking domain experience
• Certified in ISTQB Fundamentals.
