Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Software Engineer for its delivery team in Christchurch. You will develop high‑quality software across embedded Linux using C++, and craft modern web interfaces with TypeScript and Angular to deliver customer value.

You will collaborate across teams, participate in a full engineering lifecycle, and contribute to a large, evolving global development framework while working onsite five days a week in a dynamic, safety‑focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor‑level qualification in computer science, engineering, mathematics, mechatronics or equivalent experience.
• Experience developing software in C++.
• Experience building web applications with TypeScript, preferably Angular (or other modern JavaScript frameworks).
• Have experience working within a full engineering process involving specification, development, automated testing, continuous delivery and documentation.

• Help create micro frontends with module federation in modern web applications.
• Demonstrate fundamental software engineering skills resulting in predictability in engineering, scheduling and the quality of products developed.

You will be accountable for development of high quality software that hits the mark for what customers need, for working with their team to improve the development process, and doing it all within a large global development framework that is always evolving.

Location & Additional Requirements

This position requires working onsite five days a week. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
